Spectral universality of phase synchronization in non-identical oscillator networks

چکیده
We employ a spectral decomposition method to analyze synchronization of a non-identical oscillator network. We study the case that a small parameter mismatch of oscillators is characterized by one parameter and phase synchronization is observed. We derive a linearized equation for each eigenmode of the coupling matrix. The parameter mismatch is reflected on inhomogeneous term in the linearized equation. We find that the oscillation of each mode is essentially characterized only by the eigenvalue of the coupling matrix with a suitable normalization. We refer to this property as spectral universality, because it is observed irrespective of network topology. Numerical results in various network topologies show good agreement with those based on linearized equation. This universality is also observed in a system driven by additive independent Gaussian noise. PACS. 05.45.Xt Synchronization; coupled oscillators – 89.75.Hc Networks and genealogical trees

Quantifying Neural Oscillatory Synchronization: A Comparison between Spectral Coherence and Phase-Locking Value Approaches
Synchronization or phase-locking between oscillating neuronal groups is considered to be important for coordination of information among cortical networks. Spectral coherence is a commonly used approach to quantify phase locking between neural signals. We systematically explored the validity of spectral coherence measures for quantifying synchronization among neural oscillators. To that aim, we...
متن کاملEffects of degree-frequency correlations on network synchronization: Universality and full phase-locking
We introduce a model to study the effect of degree-frequency correlations on synchronization in networks of coupled oscillators. Analyzing this model, we find several remarkable characteristics. We find a stationary synchronized state that is i) universal, i.e., the degree of synchrony, as measured by a global order parameter, is independent of network topology, and ii) fully phase-locked, i.e....
متن کاملDynamical Optimization and Synchronization in Adaptive Complex Networks
We introduce two dynamical optimization coupling mechanisms for getting different kinds of synchronization in adaptive complex networks. At each node in the network there is an oscillator and the ensemble of oscillators could be either identical or non-identical. For each oscillator, we adjust only one incoming link’s strength in different time intervals while the other incoming links’ strength...
متن کاملDesign of oscillator networks with enhanced synchronization tolerance against noise.
Can synchronization properties of a network of identical oscillators in the presence of noise be improved through appropriate rewiring of its connections? What are the optimal network architectures for a given total number of connections? We address these questions by running the optimization process, using the stochastic Markov Chain Monte Carlo method with replica exchange, to design networks...
متن کاملChaotic phase synchronization and desynchronization in an oscillator network for object selection
Object selection refers to the mechanism of extracting objects of interest while ignoring other objects and background in a given visual scene. It is a fundamental issue for many computer vision and image analysis techniques and it is still a challenging task to artificial visual systems. Chaotic phase synchronization takes place in cases involving almost identical dynamical systems and it mean...
